Victorian Diamond & Gold Snake Bangle
This bracelet is a statement piece guaranteed to never go out of style. Snake motifs have been appearing in jewelry and mythology since ancient times. The Egyptians (including Cleopatra) saw it as symbolic of royalty and deity; in Rabbinical tradition and Hinduisim, it represents sexual passion and desire; the Romans interpreted it as a symbol of everlasting love; and the British Empire in the 19th Century came to see it as a symbol of eternal love. (This was after Prince Albert proposed to Queen Victoria with the very first engagement ring, which was in the image of a snake with an emerald-set head.)
The intricate detailing is something you'll notice on closer inspection: the gold has been made from fine gold wires, perfectly fused and braided, all by hand.
This bracelet can be worn on the wrist, or pushed further up the arm, and its malleable shape makes it a perfect fit for any wrist size.
